Since I am lazy, I made a “baked ziti” version of this recipe – a little bit of sauce in bottom of 9×13 glass pan, then 12 oz cooked rigatoni, ricotta mixture, and topped with rest of sauce. (And then sprinkled with mozzarella b/c i’m non-vegan.). Conclusion? This recipe is awesome no matter how you construct it. A new family fave… thanks, Caren!

Caren, I feel your pain. My niece spent last weekend with us, and my bro called on Monday to share the “good news”. Yes, she showered and I carefully combed out her looooong hair with my very own hairbrush! Yuck, I’ve been boiling, spraying and washing everything all week. Haven’t seen anything yet, but I’m still acting like a chimp with the kids heads!

Caren, I love that you took the lice out of the closet (hat?) and shared your experience. Honest and hilarious. We all have lice or lice-adjacent stories about our kids, and agree that the only way to survive life in a small town is to keep i real. Thanks.

Let’s face it. Lice is gross, but so is three quarters of the other gunk kids bring home from school, like dirt under their fingernails from God knows where, runny noses, wet hacking coughs and all the other sick sh*t in and on their bodies from the sandbox and the lunch room. Nobody’s fault, it’s just one of those kid things. They cough on each other, they pick their noses and put their fingers on other kids, they don’t wipe anything effectively, and they’re just in general sort of nasty. I’m surprised they don’t have more bugs on them.
